Flooring in Cheshire and Staffordshire fitted by joiners
We fit flooring in Cheshire and Staffordshire from our base in Alsager, including laminate, engineered wood, luxury vinyl tile (LVT) and herringbone. As joiners, we focus on the parts that many fitters rush: levelling the subfloor, cutting neat edges around door frames and finishing with new skirting or beading.
A good floor should feel solid underfoot, with no bounce, creaks or lifting joints. That comes down to preparation, the right underlay and careful fitting, which is exactly how we work.

Why preparation matters
Most flooring problems start underneath. An uneven subfloor makes click joints flex and eventually split, and loose floorboards cause squeaks that no amount of new laminate will hide. Before we lay a single board we check the floor is flat, screw down loose boards and use levelling compound or plywood where needed.
We also follow the manufacturer's instructions, such as letting boards acclimatise in the room before fitting and leaving the right expansion gap around the edges. The Contract Flooring Association publishes good guidance on how floors should be installed.
Herringbone flooring
Herringbone floors have become a favourite for hallways, kitchens and open-plan living spaces, and you will see plenty of them in our projects gallery. The pattern looks stunning but takes more time and precision to lay than straight planks, as every block has to be set out from a perfectly straight centre line.
The right floor for every room
Laminate and engineered wood suit living rooms, bedrooms and hallways. Kitchens, utility rooms and bathrooms need a floor that copes with spills and humidity, so LVT or a water-resistant laminate is usually the better choice. We will talk you through the options and fit the floor alongside any other work, such as a new kitchen or new internal doors.

Questions & answers
Flooring FAQs
How long does it take to fit new flooring?
A typical room can be fitted in a day. Larger open-plan areas, herringbone patterns or floors that need levelling first can take two to three days.
Can you fit herringbone flooring?
Yes. Herringbone is one of our most popular floors. It takes more time to set out and lay than straight planks, which we allow for in our quote.
Do you remove the old flooring?
Yes. We can lift and dispose of old carpet, laminate or vinyl as part of the job, then prepare the subfloor ready for the new floor.
Which flooring is best for a kitchen?
Luxury vinyl tile (LVT) or a water-resistant laminate is usually best for kitchens, as they cope well with spills and are easy to clean. We can show you suitable options.
How much does flooring in Cheshire and Staffordshire cost?
The price depends on the size of the room, the type of flooring and how much preparation the subfloor needs. We provide free quotes after measuring up.
